Washington Week, Day Three: Monuments & Memorials
Here I am in front of the U.S. Capitol. I'm a little groggy from the jet lag, so I don't seem very excited here.
Here I am waaaay in front of the White House.
In front of the Lincoln Memorial. (Look at all those people!)
Admiring the WWII Memorial.
If you look closely, you can make out the Washington Monument in the upper left corner.
In front of one of the many wonderful waterfalls at the FDR Memorial. (The sound of the waterfalls was so soothing I fell asleep and missed most of this inspiring Memorial.)
Inside the Jefferson Memorial. They wouldn't even let me climb the statue to see if it was a good likeness of him or not! What a ripoff!! I should write my congressman!

Washington Week, Day Two: Anabelle's Travel Tips
When you're in D.C., there's no better way to get around than the Metro. It's cheap, convenient, and clean.
Here I am riding the Metro and loving it!
One of the best things about riding the Metro is the people-watching! (It's also pretty great when the people watch you and tell you how cute you are!!)
If you're not sure how to get to where you want to go, they have these handy maps posted everywhere.
Sometimes you have to wait a bit for the next train, but that's OK if you have something to sip on.
Make sure to hold on to the handrails if your parents forget to lock the wheels on your stroller!
During rush hour the cars can get really packed with passengers, so make sure to bring a stuffed animal to hug so you don't panic.
I hope you've enjoyed my tips on how to use the Metro. In a pinch, there's also the bus, but that's not as fun. Plus, they won't even let you sit in your own stroller!

300th Post!
Washington Week Begins
Wow, I can't believe we've hit 300 posts on Anabelle's blog already. And like a TV or comic book series, we've got to do something special for the 300th episode. So we sent Anabelle to Washington, D.C. and we'll be posting pictures of her trip all week.
"Say, Anabelle -- what's that behind you? Anabelle? Anabelle??"

Guest Photo: Anabelle Surveys Her Loot
This is one Jim Scallon (Jack's dad) took as the party was winding down and Anabelle was playing with her new toys. I really like the composition and backlighting of this picture. Thanks, Jim!
One Year Old: The Aftermath
"Whew, please help me eat some of this leftover birthday cake. I can't eat another bite!"
Thanks to everyone who made Anabelle's first birthday so memorable. Many more pictures from the Big Birthday Bash can be found here. And if you have pictures from the party, please send them to me!

"Buckle Up!"
No new pictures lately, so here's another one from when Jack came over to test out Anabelle's old Jumpster. I think this was right before Anabelle gave Jack a nice big spin.
