Babysitting Belle

That's a picture of Anabelle being held by my mom -- her Grandma Bunny. My parents graciously offered to come over Saturday night and babysit Anabelle on her home turf so she'd have all of her favorite toys to play with, and so her mom and dad could go out and have a night to themselves. She generally did well that night (check here for more pics of her playing and sleeping contentedly) but she wouldn't eat from her bottle, only taking about an ounce over four hours. Yesterday she was even more adamant about not eating from the bottle: We tried to drop her off at Grandma Mai's so we could go out to dinner with some friends we hadn't seen for a long time, but right before we left for the restaurant we got a call that Anabelle was crying like crazy and refusing her bottle. So we headed back to Buckingham and Buni gave her an emergency breast feeding. We'd missed our original reservation, so we made a new one at a restaurant out in Eden Prairie and decided to take Anabelle along. She was generally pretty good but she did get fussy shortly before the food came. Luckily she fell asleep when I walked around the restaurant with her, and she stayed asleep while we ate. After dinner we went back home and rented a movie (Beauty Shop, because it was the only thing in all four of us hadn't seen; it was so awful I was happy when Anabelle was fussy because it meant I had an excuse to leave the TV room). The good news was Anabelle slept really well last night -- about 6 hours straight through. She's generally been in a good mood today but she's still rejecting the bottle (even with all the fancy new nipples her mom ran out to buy this morning). She'd been taking the bottle fine before this weekend so we're not sure what changed, but we've got to keep offering the bottle to her so she's ready once she has to go to daycare in a couple months when her mom goes back to work.

Ah, kids: Ain't they great? They know how to keep you on your toes, that's for sure.
